My Favorite Tampa Beaches

When you think for Florida beaches, the Tampa Bay area may not be the first place that comes to mind. This is not to take away from the beaches that Tampa Bay has to offer, it’s just that there are so many great beach spots in Florida that Tampa may or may not even make the list. We are still a beach-going region though, and as our beaches are situated on the Gulf rather than the Atlantic Ocean you’ll find that our beaches have something slightly different to offer than say the beaches of Miami or West Palm Beach do.

If you spend a little bit of time at our beaches you’re sure to see that they are quite nice on their own. Peaceful, calming, relaxing, and warm water to boot. Here are some of my favorite beaches in the Tampa Bay area.

Clearwater Beach

A local favorite, Clearwater beach is known for its vast stretches of pillow-soft white sand. It’s a great location for relaxing and laid-back beaching. It’s light on the waves, and the sound of the still, peaceful water gently rolling up to the shore is sure to help you find your place of zen. This is probably one of the most well known beaches in the Tampa Bay area.

Fort De Soto

Fort De Soto Park is the home of many beaches. It is a great place to go for nice long walks with the kids and family, and also a great place to bring the dog for a stroll or a run. The nice part about Fort De Soto is that there is more to see than just the beach. The park itself is beautiful as well, and it is a great way to spend the day if you’re not necessarily dead-set on sitting in a beach chair for hours on end.

Ben T Davis Beach

The Ben T Davis Beach is a go-to if you have a boat and you’re looking to get out on the water. With plenty of boat launches, you’ll have easy access in and out. The beach itself is rather thin, so it may not be the best place if you’re looking to sprawl out in the sun. Still, it’s great for walks, runs, and just getting in touch with nature. In fact, they often host charity walks and races along the Ben T Davis Beach.

Davis Islands Beaches

If you’re looking to get away from the masses for a nice relaxing day at the beach then the Davis Islands Beaches are definitely worth checking out. It’s a quiet and romantic setting that can be great for spending with your honey. It’s also a great place to bring the dogs for a walk so that they can get some energy out. It is a popular destination for boaters though, so if the thought of that bothers you, you may want to look elsewhere.

Caladesi Island State Park

The Caladesi Island State Park is another great park with some beautiful beaches to explore. The beaches are rather unadulterated, so if you want to get more in touch with nature they are a great option. Unfortunately you’ll need a boat to get there, but it will be well worth the trip if you can make it happen.
